I have had many of those moments when I am so connected with the majesty, mystery and pure magnificence of life. I am grateful to have shared the moments leading up to, during and after the birth of my great-grandson. Words cannot express the peace, love and joy that were inside of me and surrounding the birth of this amazing child. I want more of those moments in my life. The ones that just steal your heart and soul and help you regain perspective.
How about you?
I know from my life and the lives of the thousands of clients I have worked with, it isn't always easy, natural or automatic to have those special moments. The more common experience and reality is to get pulled in so many directions that we lose our focus on what really matters and the vision we had for our lives.
Complete the following questions;
Have you ever or when did you......
Allow your calendar to rule your life?
Worry about your hairstyle or the latest fashion trend?
Compare yourself to others?
Judge all the ways you didn't measure up to someone else?
Pretend all was well in your life?
Experience quiet desperation wondering if what you were up to was worth it or if it really mattered?
Create a list of ideal outcomes and the order they would need to happen to ease your suffering and allow you to be okay?
I have done all of the above. Here are a few things to remember and practice when any or all of the above hijacks your peace, love and joy.
- This too shall pass. There are many things calling for my attention at the same time. What I place my attention on will magnify. How relevant I make the situation and how long I focus on it impacts my options. With the understanding that everything is information, I am able to disconnect from the immediate trigger and make a choice as to how to maintain my peace and joy instead of focusing on what is not in alignment with what I want to experience.
- I am at choice. I have full control on what I choose to focus on. That includes my willingness to expand my perspective, update my judgements and openness to learn or observe what is getting in my way of a different experience.
- I can create and bring forth joy, peace and love. I create 100% of my reality. How I react or respond is directly related to what I make an event or situation mean. I am responsible for the quality and condition of my life.
