Moving From Expectations to Enough

Have you ever felt overwhelmed, frustrated, disorganized, anxious, afraid or defeated?

Has life's demands, challenges and situations ever left you feeling alone, resigned, unequipped to handle life or diminished in any way?

You are not alone!

It is not uncommon that along the way you will experience any one of a multitude of limiting or negative feelings as you step up to the plate of life. These are your growth edges. Listen and learn.

How can I make it go away? Why does this keep happening to me?  These questions are among many that seem to intensify what we are already feeling. This is an example of what you focus on will magnify.

My invitation for you is to develop the capacity to pause in the midst of these feelings or limiting questions and refocus your thoughts. Until you get practiced at redirecting the object of your focus you will likely continue to suffer. So now what?

You could spend years probing and identifying the beliefs, behaviors and outcomes that have this cycle repeated. However, quite honestly unless you choose to make this your life's work, you will only stick with it for a short amount of time. Why? Because you have been trained to expect immediate and instant results and gratification. When that doesn't happen, your feelings about your situation make sense and so do the actions that follow. Add to that the internal and external voices you have allowed to dictate what you "should" be doing vs. what you are "choosing" to do. Hence the cycle is reinforced and you will surely find a way to rebel and sabotage your results because that is the only way you have been previously able to rest or take a break from the madness.

Shifting your focus from the feelings created by your current reality back to your desired outcome can often motivate and inspire you. If your vision of your desired future does not motivate and inspire you then you will need to evaluate what you are really up to.

Overall, you must be willing to take responsibility for the direction of your thoughts and your actions. This is what sets people apart from a life that works and one that does not work.

The gap between where you are and where you want to be is where you grow and become better equipped to handle life's situations. When you take responsibility to create the plan, procedures and structure necessary for long-term fulfillment and back it up with action and follow through, your life will WORK!

It works because intentional and purposeful action diminishes and removes limiting thoughts, behaviors, habits and mindset that generate fear, blame, victimhood, distractions, and misuse of time and energy.

This process supports you in declaring "what's enough" and diminishes the self-imposed or external expectations that are running your life's experiences and outcomes. If you don't believe me, try it or ask any person that has already achieved your desired result. They didn't get there by chance. They planned, prepared, positioned themselves and purposefully took action in the direction of their desired results.

If you don't take the time to evaluate your vision and the specific actions, frequency and time frames that are in need of adjustment you will continue to chase your tail and recreate similar situations.

Your peace, power and possibilities are better generated when you accept what you have contributed to your internal and external results and are willing to make the necessary adjustments to redirect the focus and plan of action to create a new reality.

If you would like an expanded conversation about your specific situation, goal or plan, don't hesitate to contact me at 985-860-8861 or denise@empoweringpotential.com.
